Literature Text

You walked out of the girls' dorms and crossed to the next building, on your way to the training fields. You and Sasha had been the last ones to leave the dorms and were on your way together. The girls had been singing songs all morning and Sasha and you had a new earworm...

"From here on out, I'll be your commander!" You belted out.
"I'll be your commander!" Sasha echoed.
"No, fear, no doubt, I'll provide the answer! And right now I command you to-"
"DANCE!" You both finished while giggling. You neared Commander Erwin's office and you both hushed...only to turn the corner and pick up the singing again as you passed Captain Levi's office.

You knew that he and the other squad leaders including Commander Erwin were at a meeting at that moment so you didn't fear his scolding (and subsequent punishment). You finished the long corridor walk to the double doors that opened out to the training grounds and the stables. Strapping on your 3D Maneuver Gear, you followed Sasha to where the rest of the cadets were and immediately jumped into action, unaware of the gaze that followed your back.

~Meanwhile in the Meeting in The Corporal's Office~

"Jeager will be with my squad in the center rear. He'll be most secure there. My squad and I will ensure that he is not endangered...and to put him in his place should he endanger the rest of the troops." Captain Levi said placing a mark that would represent Eren, on a large map spread out on his table. The rest of the squad leaders nodded agreeing with his suggestion.

"Very well, Levi. Everyone is in agreement. Now, I have this hypothetical case that I'd like us to discuss and come up with a solution to. Say-" he never got to finish.
"From here on out, I'll be your commander!" A loud, melodic feminine voice sang, gradually increasing in volume, while a fainter feminine voice echoed.
The leaders paused.
"No fear, no doubt! I'll provide the answer! And right now I command you to-"
"-DANCE!" The two voices shouted out and continued singing the catchy song.

Squad Leader Hanji was the first to point out,"Wasn't that cadet (name)?" She snuck a sneaky glance at commander Erwin and snickered a bit. A death-like aura was cast upon the room as Levi got up, intent on teaching the air-headed brats a thing or two.

"Don't worry about it, Levi." A deep authoritative voice spoke up before he could tend to his need to punish. Said dark-haired male looked at the speaker. "I'll take care of it."
The Commander walked to his window and watched as the (hair colour) female strapped on her 3D gear and swung into the training centre.

~Back with you and your epic 3D Maneuver skills~

You swung to a higher level than what the other cadets were moving around. Spotting Jean, you grinned and followed the cocky teenager, knowing where he was headed was where the kill was. You noticed Sasha and Connie also shadowing Jean for his prize and sighed. You used up more gas and attached your hook right into the Titan dummy, cleanly slicing off the target's nape, narrowly missing slamming into Connie who had acted 2 seconds later than you. Three sets of angry shouts reached your ears as you continued to soar through the slightly forested area around the castle looking for more targets.

By the time you had all assembled back at the start, you saw the squad leaders exit the building and head towards you. What was surprising was that Commander Erwin was also among them. He tended to stay more in his office due to the amount of paperwork that he accumulated being the leader of the Survey Corps.

You didn't pay much attention to him and instead faced your sparring partner, Reiner, not wanting to be beaten up by the strong cadet.
"You ready (name)?" He raised his fists.
"Bring it." You adjusted your stance, putting one leg behind the other and subtly putting more weight on the back leg.

He lashed out with a punch towards your ribcage, causing you to ease all your weight to your back leg, which provided you with a small space between Reiner's fist and your body.
You then lifted the front leg and kicked him across his chest. He grunted slightly and tried to reach out for your leg before you retracted it. This put you off balance a bit and made you stumble backwards. He recovered and rammed his shoulder into your gut as he attacked you. You felt a sharp pang of pain and instantly knew that there would be a bruise there. Instead of struggling against his larger-than-yours body, you went lax against him and brought your knee up to his chest again. He coughed a bit, giving you a second to recover. You swung under his arm and twisted it behind him. You held it against his back with out breaking it and forced him to his knees, with you straddling his back.

You held that position for a few seconds before you released him.
"Nicely done(name)," Reiner groaned as you got off him. He started to massage his shoulder as you checked on your stomach where, as you had predicted, a dark colouring spotted your skin. "I could say the same for you." You whined while poking the damaged area.

"Cadet (name). Come with me."
Before it registered to you who it was that had spoken, you had already saluted out of reflex and your legs began following the retreating figure.
After a few moments of your mind restarting from your spar with Reiner, you realised that you were in the castle following Commander Erwin. You stopped, then quickly ran after him before he noticed your delay.

'Eh? Since when did the Commander even know my name? Where are we going? Why? Will I get ointment for this bruise? I'm kinda hungry...I've definitely been around Sasha too long. I wonder whether she ate all the potatoes we stole...'

You heard the sound of a door closing and feet walking around you and returned to the present. You saluted once again and looked straight ahead at the calm blue eyes of Commander Erwin Smith.
"Something on your mind cadet?"
"Not stolen potatoes sir!" You blanched realising what you'd just blurted out. He raised a thick, golden, mother of all facial hair, eyebrow at you but otherwise ignored the comment.

"Say, we were on the expedition, and you were riding out in front, leading the pack..." he began. You were confused since you were a cadet so your chances of being in the front were nil but nonetheless paid attention.
"...when you see four different separate black smoke flares from four different squads."
You knew that black flares signified Abnormal Titans attacking the troops.
"You assume that the different squads can and will handle the attackers but suddenly you realise that a single black flare is seen from the centre rear where you are keeping a very valuable specimen. Tell me (name) what would you do?"

You blushed when you realised that he had called your name and not 'cadet'.
'Why is he even asking me this? I mean, Armin is smarter than me and the best logistician we have so...huh?'
You saluted before you spoke.
"With all due respect sir, why are you asking me?" You stiffened, expecting a rebuke.

"Didn't you say that you were the new commander?" Amused blue yes locked onto yours. Instantly, you recalled your earlier singing. You blushed deeply and stammered.
"Commander...I...you see...it's...you're still...I was just..."
You looked down, trying to save face.

"What would you do, Commander (name)?"
You almost fell over. You stared at the blonde-haired man whose only emotion was reflected in his eyes. You could see slight laugh lines forming at the corners of his eyes.
"I would...theoretically speaking, find a suitable spot to fight. Preferably a forest. Then have the soldiers retreat into the cover of the trees and direct all the finest soldiers towards the Abnormal attacking the center rear." You mumbled softly.

For a while, the room was silent.
"Hmm...That sounds interesting...you are dismissed..." He mused finally.
You saluted, ready to bolt out of the room when he suddenly saluted you. Your eyes bugged out and you almost shrieked.
"...or is it me who's dismissed, 'Commander'?" He smirked faintly.

You hurriedly turned and tried not to slam the door in your haste to leave.
Taking a few steps away from what was definitely in the top three of your most embarrassing moments, you were called back by another male voice.

"Cadet (name). I have a few chores for you. Meanwhile, let's have a chat. How about we begin with this interesting story about missing potatoes..." A dark aura engulfed you from behind.

...Why weren't you singing Barbie Girl instead?
Well...you weren't going to be doing any more singing any time soon...

I'm so sorry for any typos!
>_<
Enjoy it though! And tell me if that fight scene is even remotely realistic...
