Literature Text

Several running footsteps passed his office on the way to the Mess Hall for breakfast. That, he was used to. He didn't even look up from his paperwork. He heard the then faint footsteps as they left the hall about half an hour later on the way to the training grounds. That too was normal and in all his years at The Survey Corps, that was what he had grown accustomed to. However...with the graduation and subsequent acceptance of the 105th Training Corps graduating class into the feared military section, there was a sound he was not used to. And it happened every morning.

After the mad dash towards the Mess in the morning, a short while later, he would hear the light tread of feet back towards the dorms. After a few minutes ,they would head back in the direction of the Mess Hall. Oddly still was the fact that just before the thirty minutes the soldiers had for breakfast were up, he would hear a pair of feet quickly dash towards the training grounds, just missing being tardy and facing the Corporal's wrath. Despite his curiosity and sight annoyance at the occurrence, he hadn't had time to check the matter out since he was always so busy with his work. (Never mind that cleaning his office three times in the morning was a self-assigned and pointless job since he'd still punish one of the soldiers to clean it but anyway...)

But not today. He was through with listening to the shuffling of feet as the person(s) (he still wasn't quite sure if there was more than one person involved) thought they were being quiet. As per schedule, there was the mini-stampede as the mad dash for food ensued. He got up and opened his door slightly so that he could see into the corridor in the direction of the Mess Hall. He then leaned against the wall and waited. Not disappointed, he heard the tread of feet as they came down the corridor quickly, headed his way. He caught a flash of blonde hair and blue eyes. Krista Lenz. He narrowed his eyes. He wondered how the usually meek and silent girl was involved in this...whatever it was. As soon as she passed, he quietly slipped out of his office and followed her, shadowing her footsteps. She rounded the corner to the girls' dorms and entered a room while Levi stayed hidden. As soon as she was out of sight, he walked closer to the door and listened in.

"(Name)-chan? Here's your breakfast. You better hurry today. The Squad Leaders said they'd be evaluating us today." Ah...so that's why he was free again. "Well, I'll be off, don't be late, (Name)-chan!" As soon as Krista was out of the room, she came face to face with the dark angry glare of the Corporal. "Go." Sparing one last look at the semi-shut door, she ran, hoping that the outcome wouldn't be too bad...for the Corporal, that is.
You see, there was a reason that in the morning, before your breakfast, you didn't leave your room. That same reason was tied to the fact that it was only Krista who could bring you your breakfast (along with the fact that Sasha would probably eat it on the way and everyone else would refuse) since you were less likely to maim her.
You weren't quite the morning person. And by quite, I mean you weren't. Period. Waking up from naps was a hassle enough so arising her Sleeping Highness from the realms of Slumber land when you were hungry...took guts...and cute-ness. Otherwise, you were a violent, angry, irritable beast...as our dear Squad Leader was about to find out.

"(Last Name)." He said as he stalked into the room. You were in the process of getting your harness fixed, so your breakfast lay untouched on the table across from you. Your lips twitched. You continued to correctly place the holds in their respective places. The mood in the room darkened as the Corporal noted you had ignored his presence. But he was a good person...good-ish...good-ish on some days...some days a year, so he would give you a fair warning.
"(Last Name). Get out of this room and get your ass to the training grounds before I kick it there. And after that you are going to scrub this castle's ground floor for not responding to a superior appropriately and not having your breakfast in the Mess Hall as you're supposed to."
You showed no signs of having heard him throughout his entire monologue. You finished with your harness and began towards the table with your food. That's where it went even more downhill than it already was.

A foot came speeding towards your stomach. You edged back slightly and reached out, clasping your wrist around his ankle. The twin to the appendage you had in your grasp, soared towards your face. You released the hold you had and jumped backwards, narrowly missing an attack that would have knocked you out.
"You, cadet. You have guts." He was astonished at the speed with which you had intercepted and dodged his attacks. Granted he hadn't put too much effort, it was still a shock. You, who was barely awake and hadn't eaten...weren't you supposed to be at your weakest?

His attention was refocused on you when you growled something out. "What was that, you little shit?" You raised your head and growled out louder, the ferocity in your voice and your glare taking him slightly aback, though it only showed through the widening of his eyes. "Breakfast." It was raw animal-like nature being exhibited by the cadet he knew only because he was constantly punishing her...usually her Jeager and Kirchstein.

He glanced at the table behind him, taking his eyes off you for a second, when you attacked. Even in the slightly cramped room, due to the beds, you managed to impress him with your skill. You feinted a left hook and then proceeded to sweep out with your right leg. Though as your breakfast-deprived mind anticipated, he dodged effortlessly, landing behind you to deliver what would probably be a very painful hit if it had landed. You ducked to the ground and rolled into a somersault before jumping up and grabbing what was on the table and dashing out of the room. You munched on the bread and juggled the warm potato in your other hand as you ran. You took turns and twists throughout the castle in your bid to buy yourself some time to finish your food.

Finishing off the potato, then the bread (nearly choking you in the process) you burst out into the training grounds. You ran into the formation and stood, slightly shaking, but finally fed. Slow steady footsteps walked out into the area where the Squad Leaders and cadets were. "Brats. Don't die in the trees. Go." He then turned and walked directly towards you. You, now of semi-full tummy and awake mind, realized what you had done and tried to start up your 3DMG quickly. However, a firm nearly painful grasp made itself known on your wrist.
"And from now on, you will not be having breakfast before any training sessions. And you'll be sparring with me." He pulled you against him and murmured against your ear. "We'll see how seriously you fight then (Last Name)."

                                                                ~Alternate Crack! Ending~

He glanced at the table behind him, taking his eyes off you for a second, when you attacked. Even in the slightly cramped room, due to the beds, you managed to do show impressively fancy fighting skill. You feinted a left hook and then proceeded to sweep out with your right leg. Though as your breakfast-deprived mind anticipated, he dodged effortlessly, landing behind you to deliver what would probably be a very painful hit if it had landed.
Grabbing the plate off the table, you launched it at him. No. Not the plate. The table. Which was NOT was what he was expecting.

"...So yeah, that's what happened." You finished explaining to Squad Leader Hanji as she let you hide out in her lab. "Ah...but (Nick-name)-chan, that still doesn't explain why I found you sitting on his back eating your breakfast..."
"...He's comfortable..."
"..."
"..."
"I knew I liked you for a reason, (Nick-name)-chan~"
Mornings were for breakfast. And Levi was about to learn the repercussions of that not happening.
Levi-heichou is OOC! I think...In a way, I guess.

Maa-maa~ This was supposed to be short and drabble-esque. T^T I hope it makes sense though! Let me know if there are any spelling errors or anything that doesn't quite look right...

Finally, after all that, please do enjoy.
